Ex-Tennis Pro James Blake Speaks at Fairfield University January 30th

Ex-Tennis star James Blake will help Fairfield University celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. next month. On January 30th, he will conclude a week of events by speaking at the Open VISIONS Forum.

The title of Blake's presentation is "From the Streets of the Bronx to the Courts of the US Open: The James Blake Homecoming." He will be discussing a life-changing situation that happened to him after he was body slammed by an NYPD officer.

Now, Blake is a top speaker on social equality and justice. Tickets for session are currently available for $35 with a special price of $5 for Fairfield students.

Blake won ten career singles titles and was ranked as high as fourth in the world. He reached the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam event on three occasions.

Blake was once the top ranked American singles player in the world and helped lead the U.S. to victory at the 2007 Davis Cup. After several injuries just two years earlier, he was able to battle back to win the 2005 Comeback Player of the Year on the ATP Tour.

Blake chronicled his comeback in the New York Times bestselling book, "Breaking Back: How I Lost Everything and Won Back My Life." He officially retired from the sport following the 2013 U.S. Open.
