DC March for Life Adds Baltimore Ravens Tight End Ben Watson as Speaker

A speaker from the world of sports has been added to next weekend's DC March for Life. NFL tight Ben Watson will be at the 44th annual event on January 27th.

The rally starts on the Washington National Mall at 11:45 a.m. and the march begins on the U.S. Supreme Court steps at 1 p.m. The March for Life stands as the biggest event of the year to promote pro-life initiatives.

There will be thousands of people from across the country present. Watson has been outspoken about a variety of issues, including abortion and race relations.

The New England Patriots originally selected Watson in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He spent the first six seasons of his career with the Patriots, winning two AFC titles and Super Bowl XXXIX.

Watson also spent three seasons each with the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints. He had the best year of his career with the Saints in 2015, catching 74 passes for 825 yards and six touchdowns.

Watson was a Pro Bowl alternate and off the field named a finalist for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award along with the Whizzer White Man of the Year Award. After signing with the Ravens this offseason, he tore his Achilles tendon and missed the 2016 campaign.
