Colorado Rockies Manager Bud Black Speaks at In-State Baseball Benefit Next Week

Colorado-based Friends of Baseball is adding one of the state's biggest names in the sport for their 30th annual Breakfast of Champions. Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black is joining Baseball Hall of Famer Juan Marichal at the event.

The breakfast takes place at the Island Grove Events Center in Greeley, Colorado. Black will get to talk about his life in baseball and the outlook around the 2017 Rockies.

Tickets for the event cost $10 and corporate sponsorships are still available. Friends of Baseball is a non-profit that helps fund local baseball programs.

This offseason, Black was named the new manager in Colorado. From 2007-2015, he served as manager of the San Diego Padres and won 2010 National League Manager of the Year.

In between managerial stints, Black was a special assistant to the general manager of the Los Angeles Angels. He built his reputation in coaching as the pitching coach of the Angels from 2000-06.

Black pitched for 15 seasons in the major leagues. He won 121 games and was part of the Kansas City Royals team that won the 1985 World Series.
