Carolina Panthers Head Coach Ron Rivera Speaks at Women's Football Forum

As the NFL expands coaching opportunities for women, several have taken note of what a different perspective can add to the game. Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera is one of those people and he recently shared thoughts on trying to expand opportunities on his own staff.

On Wednesday, Rivera made an appearance in Indianapolis prior to the NFL Combine to speak on the Women's Careers in Football forum coaching panel. There were around 40 women who hold positions on the college level that listened to his remarks.

Rivera talked about Jennifer King, who served as a coaching intern for the Panthers in 2017. He also shared how it is important to shred labels in many areas throughout football.

Rivera has had tremendous success since taking over Carolina in 2011. He has led the team to three NFC South Division titles, four playoff berths and an appearance in Super Bowl 50.

Rivera was named AP NFL Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2015. Before being named head coach, he spent time as the defensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears and San Diego Chargers.

Rivera had a standout nine-year playing career with the Bears and was a member of their team that won Super Bowl XX. He also began his coaching career in Chicago.
