Baseball Executive Larry Lucchino Keynotes Attleboro YMCA Event

Baseball executive Larry Lucchino is known for pulling off tremendous feats with the Boston Red Sox. Now as chairman of the Pawtucket Red Sox, he is in a more low-profile role, but remains an important part of the Greater Massachusetts community.

On Tuesday, Lucchino was the keynote speaker at the Attleboro YMCA's Best Friends breakfast fundraiser. Several hundred people turned out for the event that was held in the raceway function room at Plainridge Park Casino.

He was able to talk about how important relationships between business and the community are. Lucchino was also able to touch on several baseball topics during a question and answer session.

Lucchino served as president and CEO of the Red Sox when they won World Series titles in 2004, 2007 and 2013. He is credited with helping hire general manager Theo Epstein, who he had worked with during tenures with the Baltimore Orioles and San Diego Padres.

In both Baltimore and San Diego, Lucchino led the effort to construct new modern ballparks with a distinct retro appeal. Camden Yards and Petco Park are two shining examples of baseball's recent stadium renaissance.

Lucchino first got into sports working with the Orioles and Washington Redskins through the law practice Williams & Connolly. He is a member of the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame and is on the Board of Directors for the Special Olympics.
