Former Crimson Tide Star Shaun Alexander Makes Appearance at Alabama Alumni Event

Alabama fans may not have been happy with the way the College Football Playoff National Championship game played out, but there was certainly some great pageantry leading into Monday's proceedings. For the supporters on site in Santa Clara, California, there were an array of activities, including a tailgate put on by the Alabama Alumni Association that featured several former Crimson Tide stars.

Ex-running back Shaun Alexander was one of the top featured legends in attendance. Many fans were able to snap pictures with and grab autographs from the former All-American.

"Tailgating with the Tide" took place from 12:30-3:30 p.m. at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Just like the previous four tailgates held by the National Alumni Association, this event also sold out.

Alexander ran for over 1,000 yards in his junior and senior seasons at Alabama. He helped the Tide win the 1999 SEC Championship and set 15 school records.

The Seattle Seahawks went on to select Alexander in the first round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He was a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro in seven seasons in Seattle.

In 2005, Alexander ran for over 1,800 yards and won the NFL MVP and NFL Offensive Player of the Year awards. He led the league in both rushing yards and rushing touchdowns.

Alexander retired in 2008 after one final season with the Washington Redskins. He is a member of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame and the Seattle Seahawks 35th Anniversary Team.
