NBA Dunking Great Spud Webb Holds Dallas Charity Golf Tournament

It has been a long time since Spud Webb captivated the hearts and imaginations of America with his gravity-defying dunks.  While his days as one of the NBA's great high-flyers may be behind him, Webb continues to do great work for his Dallas-area community.

In June, the 10th Annual Spud Webb Scholarship Golf Tournament will commence.  It will be held Friday, June 10th at the Dallas Cowboys Golf club in Grapevine, Texas.

Proceeds benefit the A.W. Brown Education Foundation.  There are still several sponsorship packages available that range in price from $1,250 to $25,000.

At 5'7", Webb is one of the shortest players in the NBA history, but that did not deter him from winning the 1986 Slam Dunk Contest.  He recorded two perfect 50 dunks in the final round to defeat his Atlanta Hawks teammate Dominique Wilkins in the competition.

Since, Nate Robinson has been the only other player under six feet tall to win the dunk contest.  While dunking is what gave Webb his greatest acclaim, he also had a signifcant career on the court.

He played in 814 NBA games, scoring over 8,000 points and adding over 4,000 assists.  Currently, he serves as President of Basketball Operations for the D-League's Texas Legends.
