Hall of Fame Pitcher Steve Carlton Makes Appearance at Sports Medicine Center Open House

Last Saturday, Hall of Fame pitcher Steve Carlton paid a visit to St. Luke's Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Center. He was at the location at Bethlehem, Pennslyvania for an open house.

Carlton had plenty of baseball stories to share and talked about the evolution of pitching. He also discussed his unusual training and conditioning habits.

After speaking with St. Luke's Sports Medicine Round-Up, Carlton gave a lesson to 40 Babe Ruth and District XI pitchers. Athletes, coaches and parents also had the chance to meet with St. Luke athletic trainers.

Carlton is one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history and a ten-time All-Star. After beginning his career with the St. Louis Cardinals, he won four National League Cy Young Awards with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Carlton won a World Series with both franchises. He ranks fourth in major league history in strikeouts and 11th in victories.

Carlton's jersey is retired by the Phillies and he has a statue outside of Citizens Bank Park. In 1994, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame with 96 percent of the vote.
