Former Philadelphia Phillies First Baseman Ryan Howard Holds New Jersey Book Signing Next Month

For years, Ryan Howard was one of the most feared hitters in baseball. Now, he has a new mission: promoting good sportsmanship and the importance of literacy.

Howard and his wife have tried to advance these objectives by creating the Little Rhino series of children's books. He will be signing copies of the first book in the series, My New Team, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on February on February 10th in Deptford, New Jersey at the South Jersey Federal Credit Union's Corporate Center.

Books will be available for just $5 at the event and a book will be donated to a nonprofit organization for every one purchased. A VIP reading will also take place at 10:30 a.m.

Howard played his entire 13-year career with the Philadelphia Phillies. He set a franchise single-season record with 58 home runs in 2006 and was named National League MVP.

Howard finished in the top ten in MVP voting for five straight years following his 2006 win. He led baseball in homers twice and RBI three times.

Howard is the fastest player in major league history to reach the 100, 150, 200 and 250 home run plateaus. In 2008, he helped lead the Phillies to their first World Series win since 1980.
