Former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Pat Swilling Keynotes Athlete Hall of Fame Event

The Terrebonne General Community Sports Institute is inducting their first class into the Bayou Region Athletic Hall of Fame tomorrow. Former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Pat Swilling serves as keynote speaker.

The event takes place beginning at 7 p.m. at the Cypress Columns in Gray, Louisiana. There are six inductees in the inaugural class, including local legends like Bobby Hebert.

The Hall of Fame is presented by the Foundation for Terrebonne General Medical Center and the evening is sponsored by Peoples Drug Store of Houma. Proceeds go towards the hospital's purchase of a mobile medical/blood clinic.

Swilling made the most impact on his football career while in the Bayou state. He was with the New Orleans Saints for his first seven seasons and was a four-time All-Pro.

In 1991, Swilling led the league in sacks and was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He was named to five straight Pro Bowls from 1989-95.

Swilling is officially credited with 107.5 career sacks. He is a former Louisiana House of Representatives member and a College Football Hall of Fame inductee.
