The Washington Redskins instituted the second cheerleading squad in the NFL and they perform to this day as the longest running group in the league.  They originally debuted in 1962 and were one of the first cheerleading groups to tour the world.  In 1983, the Redskins produced the first of what became an annual calendar.  A year later, they founded the first ever cheerleading alumni association and have over 200 members among that group today.  The current cheerleaders serve as great ambassadors of the franchise, being active in events around the DC area and abroad.
