About Walter McCarty
Walter McCarty played 10 NBA seasons for the New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns, and Los Angeles Clippers. McCarty had his best seasons in Boston, where he was beloved by the fans and became a key bench contributor. He was a first round pick out the University of Kentucky in 1996. The Wildcats won an NCAA title in McCarty’s final season. Since retirement, he has been a coach on the collegiate and pro levels. McCarty started as an assistant on his former college coach Rick Pitino’s staff at the University of Louisville. He is now an assistant for the Celtics. McCarty had had a variety of interest outside of basketball as well. A noted singer, he released an R&B album called “Moment for Love” in 2003 and sang the National Anthem during NBA All-Star Weekend in 2006. McCarty also appeared on the big screen in He Got Game as “Mance”.
