About Tony Rice
Tony Rice is a former professional football player in the World League of American Football and the Canadian Football League. Rice gained notoriety when he played collegiately at Notre Dame. Tony was recognized and remembered as a very dynamic quarterback option that led Notre Dame to the 1988 National Championship under coach Lou Holtz. While still in school Tonys performance on the field earned him the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, an All-American selection, and a fourth place result in the 1989 Heisman Trophy voting. After college, Rice played professionally first in the CFL where he served in a backup role with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and he sought to be a starter after being drafted in the second round of the World League of American Football Draft he went on to play for the Barcelona Dragons. After the World League ceased operations following the 1992 season Tony spent a year playing in Europe before officially hanging up his helmet.
