About Tim Shriver
Tim Shriver has an important mission as Chairman of the Board ofSpecial Olympics. He guides an organization that provides an outlet for over 5.6 million athletes in 172 countries. Shriver has been with Special Olympics since 1996. He is also a well-known educator. Shriver worked for 15 years in public education. He was a public high school teacher in Connecticut and a counselor and teacher in the Upward Bound program for disadvantaged youth. Shriver is also a former fellow at the Yale Child Study Center's School Development Program. He is the co-founder and chairman for the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning. Shriver has produced four films. He is the bestselling author of "Fully Alive - Discovering What Matters Most." Shriver is the president of the Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Foundation. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a co-chairman of the National Commission on Social and Emotional Learning. Shriver has an undergraduate degree from Yale University, a master's degree from Catholic University and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Connecticut.
