About Shane Matthews
Shane Matthews played 14 seasons in the NFL after a standout career at the University of Florida in which he passed for 9,287 yards and 74 touchdowns and became a member of the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. During his final two seasons with the Gators he garnered SEC Player of the Year honors and led his team to an SEC Championship in 1991. In 1993 he joined the Chicago Bears as a non-drafted free agent and began what would be a long and successful NFL career. From 1993 to 2006 he played for the Bears, Carolina Panthers, Washington Redskins, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins and accumulated 4,756 passing yards and 31 touchdowns. After retiring from football, he became a radio talk show host in Gainesville, Florida and has spent time as a high school coach.
