Ryan Zimmerman

Ryan Zimmerman is a first baseman for the Washington Nationals. He has been one of the team's' stars for over a decade. After a brief 20 game call-up in 2005, Zimmerman broke out in 2006. He hit .287 with 20 home runs and 110 RBI on the way to finishing second in National League Rookie of the Year voting. He hit a career-high 33 home runs in 2009 and was named to the first of two All-Stars teams. Zimmerman also won a Gold Glove for his work at third base. He also won the first of two back-to-back Silver Slugger Awards. The Nationals originally selected Zimmerman with the fourth overall pick in the 2005 MLB Draft. He played college baseball at the University of Virginia, where he started 174 games and became one of the best players in Cavaliers history. On two occasions, he set the school single-season record for hits. Zimmerman was a two-time All-ACC pick and an All-American in 2005.
