Ryan Longwell is a retired kicker for the National Football League. Longwell was born in Seattle, Washington in 1974 and attended high school in Oregon. He excelled at both football and baseball during his high school years. In fact, it was not until attending college at the University of California, Berkeley that Longwell chose to focus solely on football. Serving as a punter and placekicker for the team, he earned four varsity letters while simultaneously earning a degree in English. Longwell debuted professionally with the San Francisco 49ers postgraduation in 1997, although he never played a game with them. He was immediately traded to the Green Bay Packers, whom he played with for eight seasons. Longwell became the second leading scorer in Green Bay Packer history and also holds the record as having the most field goals in Packer history, with 226. He was traded to the Vikings in 2006 and concluded his professional kicking career with the Seattle Seahawks in 2012.
