Russ Grimm

Russ Grimm was an All-American center for the University of Pittsburgh football team following which he was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the 1981 Draft. Grimm’s college success transitioned well into the professional level, finding a starting spot early on with Washington. Grimm was a part of the famous “Hogs” line for Washington throughout the ‘80s and the beginning of the ‘90s which has been pegged as one of the best offensive fronts in NFL history. Grimm went to 4 straight Pro-Bowls as well as appearing on 4 straight All-Pro teams, on top of which he took 4 trips to the Super Bowl, winning 3 of them. Grimm began a coaching career with his former team upon his retirement in 1992, where he stayed for 8 seasons as a TE and then OL coach. In 2001 he joined the Pittsburgh Steelers organization as an OL coach, staying for 5 seasons and winning his 4th NFL Super Bowl. Grimm was one of two finalists to take over the head coaching position for the Steelers in 2006 and switched to the Arizona Cardinals after he was passed on for the position.
