About Rudi Johnson
After graduating from high school, Rudi Johnson attended Butler Community College where he led the team to 2 National Championships and was named NJCAA Player of the Year in 1999. Johnson then went on to Auburn University where in his one season he set a school record with 324 rushing attempts and 2nd in history for 1,567 rushing yards. Johnson won SEC Player of the Year honors that year and narrowly missed out on the Doak Walker Award to LaDainian Tomlison. Rudi was drafted in 2001 by the Cincinnati Bengals where he began as a back-up to Cory Dillon. In 2003, with Dillon out due to injury, Johnson took his opportunity to impress and rushed for 957 yards with 9 TDs. Johnson went on to be a key contributor for the 05 Bengals who made the playoffs for the first time in 15 years. The hard-nosed, punishing runner also started the Rudi Johnson Foundation that helps promote self-sufficiency to families and children in the Cincinnati area.
