Rex Hudler

Throughout a 21 year career as a player in baseball Rex Hudler played for many different teams, and in the MLB he played for 6 teams in every position except pitcher and catcher in a utility role. In his 774 career major league games, Hudler ended his career with a .261 average with 56 home runs and 169 runs batted in. The 1999 inductee into the Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame has been known by several nicknames including “Wonderdog” from an old cartoon series, but he got the moniker of “Bug Eater” when he was once dared by a teammate to eat an enormous June bug he picked off of his hat, and did. Following his career as a player Rex went on to be a broadcaster and was the color commentator for the Los Angeles Angels for a decade and has also been the voice of several MLB video games. Aside from the game of baseball, Hudler is the president of a non-profit organization, Team Up For Down Syndrome, which raises money for the care of those living with Down syndrome.
