About Phillip Buchanon
Phillip Buchanon was drafted in the first round with the 17th overall pick by the Oakland Raiders in the 2002 NFL Draft. Prior to beginning his pro career he starred at Lehigh Senior High School in Lehigh, Florida, where he was a standout running back and defensive back on the football team and also competed in basketball, baseball and track. After high school he played college football at the University of Miami and earned All-American honors during his junior season as a kick returner. Buchanon signed with the Raiders in 2002 and went on to play two seasons in Oakland before heading to the Houston Texans from 2005 to 2006, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2006 to 2008, the Detroit Lions in 2009 and the Washington Redskins from 2010 to 2011. During that span he recorded 388 tackles, one sack and 20 interceptions at the cornerback position and was one of the most respected players and teammates in the league.
