About Phil Knight
For a generation, there have not been many figures in sports more influential than Phil Knight. In 1964, he co-founded Blue Ribbon Sports with University of Oregon track coach Bill Bowerman and the rest would be history. The company grew into the global giant Nike and Knight became one of the richest people in the world. He has been both the CEO and chairman during Nike’s rise as the top sports apparel company in the world. Due to the impact of Nike in the sports world, Knight was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012. He is also a member of the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame and largely through his donations the Ducks have become a college football power. In addition to Knight’s undergraduate work while on the track team at Oregon, he also attended the Stanford Graduate Business School. The Knight Management Center was established at Stanford in 2006 after his $105 million donation.
