Nikki McCray Biography

Nikki McCray is a former American professional women’s basketball player. McCray attended the University of Tennessee where she played guard. Prior to her joining the WNBA, McCray was a star in the now-defunct American Basketball League. McCray was named the Most Valuable Player for the 1996-97 season with the ABL. During her professional career, McCray played for the Washington Mystics, Indiana Fever, Phoenix Mercury, San Antonio Silver Stars and the Chicago Sky. McCray was named to three WNBA All-Star teams and she scored 2, 550 career points. McCray has won gold medals at the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics, as well as participating on America’s 1990 FIBA World Championship team. McCray is currently the assistant coach at the University of South Carolina. McCray has also created a name for herself off of the court in the realm of community service. McCray was hand-pick by President Bill Clinton in 2000, to be made a member of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.
