About Mike Russow
Mike Russow got his start in combat sports as a high school wrestler. During his prep days he won an Illinois State Championship in the Heavyweight division, and went on to wrestle at Eastern Illinois University, where he earned NJCAA AllAmerican honors in 1997. Upon earning his undergraduate degree in sociology he turned his focus to mixed martial arts. With a background in wrestling, boxing, grappling, and several martial arts disciplines he is a force to be reckoned with in the Octagon. His first professional mixed martial arts fight came in 1998 at the JKD Challenge, which he won with a unanimous decision. After a six-year hiatus from the sport he returned with a vengeance in 2006, winning his first four bouts and going on to post an 11-1 record before joining the U FC in 2008. While fighting in the UFC he has posted a 5-3 record and become one of the top heavyweight fighters on the MMA circuit.
