About Mike Quade
Mike Quade grew up in Evanston, Illinois and played his college baseball at the University of New Orleans. During his time at New Orleans he had a stellar career and was named to the Sun Belt Conference “All-Time Baseball Team” in 2006. Quade was a 22nd round selection by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1979 Major League Baseball Draft and played in the Pirates minor league system until 1983. After retiring as a player he began his minor league coaching career and served as a manager for the Macon Pirates, Rockford Expos, Harrisburg Senators, Ottawa Lynx, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons, West Michigan Whitecaps, Huntsville Stars, Edmonton Trappers, Vancouver Canadians and Iowa Cubs from 1985 to 2006. During that time he was twice named Minor League Manager of the Year in 1991 and 1993. Quade also got some big league time as a coach with the Oakland Athletics from 2000 to 2002 and Chicago Cubs from 2007 to 2010. In 2010 he was hired as the manager of the Cubs and served in that role for two seasons. Currently he serves as the roving outfield and base running instructor for the New York Yankees.
