About Mike Dunleavy Sr.
Mike Dunleavy Sr. grew up in Brooklyn, New York and played college basketball at the University of South Carolina before joining the Philadelphia 76ers in 1976 as a sixth round NBA draft pick. During his 14 year NBA career he played for the 76ers, Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs and Milwaukee Bucks and scored 3,496 career points. Immediately upon retiring from the NBA in 1990 he became the head coach of he Los Angeles Lakers, and has since served as the head coach for the Milwaukee Bucks from 1992 to 1996, Portland Trail Blazers from 1997 to 2001 and Los Angeles Clippers from 2003 to 2010. In 1999, he was named NBA Coach of the Year after leading the Trail Blazers 59-23 overall record. Dunleavy is widely considered to be one of the greatest NBA coaches of all-time, having led his teams to seven NBA playoff appearances and 613 wins in 20 seasons. From 2016-19, he stepped into the college ranks as the head coach at Tulane.
