Merilee Kern

Merilee Kern is an entrepreneur, media personality, author, journalist, publicist, athlete, health advocate and a mother. Kern earned her MBA degree from Nova Southeastern University by the time she was 23 years old. Kern is a regular on air contributor with XETV Channel 6 and KSWB Fox 5. She also owns and operates a successful boutique Public Relations and Marketing Communications agency, Kern Communications. Kern has been publicizing and marketing multi industry businesses initiatives since 1994. She is also a former fitness competitor and champion. She has won the title of “Miss South Florida” as well as “Miss Palm Coast.” Kern was named a finalist in the 3rd annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business in 2007. She is BRCA 1 positive which puts her at a sharply increased risk for developing breast and/or ovarian cancer in her life. Kern made the decision to have a prophylactic double mastectomy and a bilateral oophorectomy and hysterectomy to take preventative action against the cancers. She now shares her story with other women to give them insight on making a decision of the nature and caliber that she had to do.
