About Matthew Centrowitz Jr.
Matthew Centrowitz Jr. became one of the American heroes of the 2016 Olympics with his gold medal win in the 1500 meters race. Centrowitz dominated the race from the start and became the first person from the U.S. to win the event in 108 years. It was great redemption after just missing the medal podium at the 2012 Games. He finished in fourth place, just0.04 seconds out of the bronze medalist. In 2016, Cenetrowitz also won gold in the event at the World Indoor Championships. He is a two-time World Championships medalist in the 1500m, winning bronze in 2011 and silver in 2013. Centrowitz originally turned pro in 2011after running collegiately at powerhouse Oregon. That year he won the 1500m at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. His father, Matt, was also a two-time Olympic distance runner.
