Louis Orr

Louis Orr was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and played his college basketball at Syracuse University. In 1980 he joined the Indiana Pacers as a first round selection and went on to play eight seasons in the NBA with the Pacers and New York Knicks. During that time he led his team to three playoff berths and averaged 12.7 points per game. After his retirement as a player he turned his focus to coaching and joined the Xavier University coaching staff in 1990. He served as an assistant at Xavier until being hired as an assistant at Providence University in 1994. In 1996 he returned to Syracuse as an assistant and helped them to a 92-40 record and two Sweet Sixteen appearances from 1996 to 2000. After the 2000 season he was hired as the new head coach at Siena College, and led them to a 20-11 record during his first season, which attracted offers from several big universities, including Seton Hall. Orr became the head coach at Seton Hall in 2001 and led them to two NCAA Tournament appearances and 80 wins over the next five seasons, earning Big East Coach of the Year honors in 2003. After the 2006 season he was named the head coach at Bowling Green and has since led his team to 101 wins and MAC regular season Championship in 2009, earning him Big East Coach of the Year honors that season.
