About Lokelani McMichael
Lokelani McMichael is one of the most prominent long distance runners and endurance competitors on the world circuit today. In 1995 she became the youngest female athlete to ever finish the Hawaii Ironman, and has since competed in Ironman and triathlon competitions all over the world. At the age of 18 she defeated over 40,000 competitors to become eligible to compete in the 140.6-mile triathlon. Her accomplishment put her in the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest women to ever compete that distance triathlon. Since that time she has been featured on the cover several magazines and publications including GQ, Shape, Runner’s World, Men’s Health and Triathlete. In 1999 she was named Miss Kona Coffee, and went on to have a successful career on television on the hit shows Beyond the Break and Ironman Live. Lokelani’s real name is Lokelaniku’uleimakamae, but it is shortened for public appeal and ease. The name fits her, as it is just as long and beautiful as the many distance races she has completed during her career.
