About Leroy Keyes
Leroy Keyes played running back and safety in the National Football League from 1969 to 1973 with the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. Keyes played his college football at Purdue University and earned All-American honors in back-toback years in 1967 and 1968. During his senior year he rushed for 1,003 yards and 14 touchdowns and caught 33 passes for 428 yards and one touchdown in route to finishing as the runner-up in the 1968 Heisman trophy voting. He finished his Purdue career with 2,090 rushing yards and 1,204 receiving yards. In the 1969 NFL Draft the Philadelphia Eagles selected him in the first round with the No. 3 overall pick. Over the next four seasons he played running back and safety in the NFL and was one of the most popular players in the league. Keyes is a member of the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame, Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, and College Football Hall of Fame.
