About Larry English
Larry English is a professional defensive end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League. English attended college at Northern Illinois University where he was a medical redshirt in 2004 after sustaining an injury. In 2005, English played in 11 games and started in 9. As a junior, he was a First-Team All-MAC selection. In college, English was a 3x All-MAC in 2006, 2007, and 2008. He was also a 2x MAC Most Valuable Player in 2007 and 2008. The San Diego Chargers selected English in the first round as the 16th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. After playing defensive end in college, the Chargers indicated that he would be playing outside linebacker in the NFL. English fractured his foot in 2010 training camp and continued to struggle with injuries. The Chargers released him on July 22, 2014. On August 14, 2014, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed English and cut him on August 29. He later resigned on September 9, 2014.
