About Kermit Davis
Kermit Davis has slowly but surely build Middle Tennessee into one of the best mid-major basketball programs in the country. Under his watch, the Blue Raiders have made two NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2016, MTSU scored an atonishing 90-81 upset over 2-seed Michigan State in the first round of the tournament. Davis's teams have won three conference regular season titles between the Sun Belt and ConferenceUSA. He has a Sun Belt and Big Sky Coach of the Year Award. He was honored by the Big Sky in his first of two tenures as the head coach at Idaho. Davis also spent a season as the head coach of Texas A&M. Prior to arriving at MTSU, he served as associate headcoach at LSU. Davis father, Kermit Sr., was the head coach at Mississippi State in the 1970's. He would later play for the school and begin his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the school.
