Ken Giles is a reliever for the Seattle Mariners who most recently served as a closer for the Houston Astros. He has been one of the best relief pitchers in baseball since debuting with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2014. The Phillies originally drafted him in the 11th round of the 2011 MLB Draft. As a rookie, he pitched in 44 games and posted a 1.18 ERA. He also took part in a combined no-hitter in August. That performance led to Giles finishing fourth in the National League Rookie of the Year voting. He was stellar again in 2015, when he pitched in 69 games and had a 1.80 ERA. Giles became a closer for the first time towards the end of the season and registered 15 saves. He was acquired via trade by the Astros in 2016 and had a breakthrough season in 2017. Giles collected 34 saves and a 2.30 ERA. He also helped Houston win the World Series.
