About Johnny Jones
Johnny Jones has rebuilt LSU basketball. The team has never failed to post a winning season and went to their first NCAA Tournament under Jones in 2014-15. He is right at home with the Tigers, going to the 1981 Final Four with the program as a player and the 1986 Final Four as an assistant coach. Jones spent 12 seasons at the start of his coaching career in Baton Rouge, learning under Dale Brown. He went on to Memphis, where he was the assistant coach for two seasons and head coach for one. Following a season as an assistant at Alabama, Jones accepted the head coaching job at North Texas. He took the Mean Green to the NCAA Tournament twice in 11 seasons. The program also had a five-year run of 20-win seasons and captured two Sun Belt tournament championships.
