About John Stevens
John Stevens played two seasons in the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers and Harford Whalers from 1984-1985 and 1998-1999. However, much of his playing career was spent in the AHL, where he tallied 21 goals and 167 assists for a total of 188 points in 834 games as a defenseman. After retiring as a player in 1999 he pursued a successful career in coaching and headed up the Philadelphia Phantoms in the AHL from 2000 to 2006, winning one division title and a Calder Cup title in 2005. In 2006 he made the move to the NHL as the head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers and led them to two playoff appearances from 2006 to 2010. In 2011 he signed on as an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Kings and has since helped lead them to two Stanley Cup titles in 2012 and 2014. In honor of his accomplishments with their franchise he was inducted into the Philadelphia Phantoms Hall of Fame in 2007.
