About John Croyle
John Croyle was an All-SEC defensive end for Bear Bryant at Alabama. Croyle was named second-team All-SEC in 1974 and won a national title with the Crimson Tides in 1973, but decided to forgo playing pro football. Instead, he founded the Big Oak Ranch for Boys. Several people including future NFL Hall of Fame offensive lineman John Hannah stepped up to fund his dream. Croyle has helped scores of children throughout the years who have been victims of abuse. The outreach has grown in later years to include the Big Oak Ranch for Girls and Westbrook Christian School. Croyle has now had things in operation for over 40 years. He has also written a book, “The Two-Minute Drill to Manhood: A Proven Game For Raising Sons.” Croyle originally was an All-American in football and basketball at Gadsden High School. His son Brodie is a former Alabama and NFL quarterback and daughter Reagan played basketball for the Tide in addition to being homecoming queen. Both children currently have leadership roles at Big Oak.
