About John Bucyk
Hockey Hall of Famer JohnBucyk spent 21 of his 23 NHL seasons with the Boston Bruins. Bucyk is one of the league’s all-time great scorers, accumulating 556 goals and 1369 points over 1540 games. The seven-time All-Star is the Bruins’ all-time leading goal scorer. With Bucyk, Boston broke a 29-year title drought in 1970 and won another Stanley Cup in 1972. As a testament to his longevity, he was the oldest player to score 50 goals in a season at the age of 35 in 1971. Twice Bucyk was recognized for his sportsmanship with the NHL’s Lady Byng Memorial Trophy. He originally came up with the Edmonton Oil Kings in junior hockey and then signed on with the Detroit Red Wings. Following his playing career, the Bruins retired his jersey and he stayed on with the organization. Bucyk has now been involved with the franchise for over 50 years and currently serves as their director of road services.
