About Jo Jo White
Jo Jo White played in the NBA for 12 seasons with the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors and Kansas City Kings after an All-American collegiate career at the University of Kansas. While playing for the Jayhawks he led them to a Final Four appearance in 1968 and earned All-Big Eight honors in three consecutive seasons from 1967 to 1969. In the 1969 NBA Draft he was selected in the first round as the ninth overall pick by the Boston Celtics and went on to earn seven All-Star selections and two All-NBA Second Team nods while playing for the Celtics from 1969 to 1979. He also helped his team to two NBA Championships in 1974 and 1976 and earned NBA Finals MVP honors in 1976. White retired in 1981 with 14,399 career points to go along with 4,095 assists and 3,345 rebounds. To honor his contributions to their franchise the Boston Celtics retired his legendary No. 10 jersey in 1982. Prior to joining the Celtics he helped Team USA to a gold medal at the 1968 Mexico City Olympic games and was also drafted by the Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Reds, but chose to pursue a career in basketball.
