JJ Redick Biography

JJ Redick joined the Orlando Magic in 2006 as a first round selection after and outstanding amateur basketball career at Cave Spring High School and Duke University. While at Cave Spring he earned McDonald’s All-American Most Valuable Player honors in 2002 after leading his team to a Virginia State title with a 43-point performance in the championship game. He then matriculated to Duke University and became the top player in the country. During his first year with the Blue Devils he earned Third Team All-ACC and All-ACC Rookie Team honors after leading his team to a victory in the ACC Tournament. He enjoyed much of the same success as a sophomore, earning Third Team All-American and Second Team All-ACC honors. His junior and senior years however, have gone down in the record books as two of the best seasons in college basketball history. After averaging over 21.8 points per game as a junior and topping that with 26.8 points as a senior he earned consecutive Consensus First Team All-American, ACC Player of the Year, and ACC Tournament MVP honors to go along with two Adolph Rupp Trophy’s and the 2006 National College Player of the Year award. By the time his college career ended he owned the ACC scoring record with 2,587 career points. Duke retired his legendary No. 4 jersey in 2007. Upon signing with the Magic he played his first seven seasons in Orlando before heading to the Milwaukee Bucks in 2013. Redick continued to be one of the league's three-point specialists during stops with the Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers. He currently plays for the New Orleans Pelicans.
