Jerry Manuel

Jerry Manuel currently serves as an analyst on the MLB Network, where he entertains millions of baseball fans each day with the knowledge of the game that he acquired during his over a 30-year career in professional baseball as a player, coach and manager. Manuel’s big league career featured stops with the Detroit Tigers, Montreal Expos and San Diego Padres from 1975 to 1982. After retiring as a player he was hired as a scout in the Chicago White Sox organization, then spent several years in the Expos organization as a roving infield instructor, minor league field coordinator, coach and manager. In 1990 he was hired as the manager of the Expos Double-A affiliate in Jacksonville, Florida and led them to a Southern League title. His performance that season earned him Southern League Manager of the Year honors an earned him a call to the big leagues as a coach for the Expos from 1991 to 1996. In 1997 he headed south to the Florida Marlins for one year and helped them to a World Series title. In 1998 he was hired as the head coach of the Chicago White Sox and went on to earn American League Manager of the Year honors in 2000. Manuel coached with the New York Mets from 2005 to 2008 and then managed the Mets from 2008 to 2010. Since that time he has joined the MLB Network, started the Jerry Manuel Foundation in Sacramento, California and been named the Director of Baseball Operations at William Jessup University.
