Jeffrey Lurie

Jeffrey Lurie is the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles in the National Football League. Lurie was born in Boston and earned his bachelor’s degree from Clark University, master’s degree from Boston University and Ph.D. in social policy from Brandeis University. After earning his doctorate he served as an assistant professor of social policy at Boston University before beginning a successful career in business. In 1983 he joined General Cinema Corporation, which was founded for his grandfather. He began as an executive in the company and served as a liaison between the company and the production community in Hollywood. In 1985 he founded Chestnut Hill Productions, which went on to produce the hit film Inside Job, which won an Academy Award for best documentary film in 2011. Lurie purchased the Eagles in 1994 for $195 million and has since led them to unprecedented success. As of 2011 the Eagles were worth over $1.6 billion, with much of their success coming as a result of the decisions Lurie and his staff of front office executives have made on behalf of the franchise.
