About Jamal Mayers
Jamal Mayers is a retired NHL veteran who remains close to the game as a sportscaster. A Western Michigan University graduate, he played 15 seasons in the NHL from 1996 to 2013, starting with the St. Louis Blues after being drafted 89th overall in 1993. He also suited up for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, San Jose Sharks, and Chicago Blackhawks, winning the Stanley Cup with Chicago in 2013. Mayers recorded 219 points (90 goals, 129 assists) in 915 regular-season games, known for his physical, gritty style. Post-retirement, he works as an NHL studio and color analyst for Sportsnet, authored the children's book “Hockey is For Me” (2020), and advocates for hockey safety.
