Jake Virtanen Biography

Jake Virtanen is a right wing for the Vancouver Canucks and one of the team's rising stars.  He made his NHL debut during the 2015-16 season, playing in 55 games and registering 13 points.  The Canucks originally selected him with the sixth overall pick of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.  Virtanen played his junior hockey with the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League.  Calgary made him the first overall pick of the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.  On the international scene, Virtanen has been a stalwart of the Canadian junior national teams.  He has a bronze medal from the 2013 IIHF U18 World Championship and a gold from the 2015 IIHF U20 World Champioship.
