About Hugh Green
Hugh Green is a retired NFL linebacker who played 11 seasons for two separate teams. Green rose to prominence as a collegiate player, playing four seasons at the University of Pittsburgh, winning multiple awards for his defensive play. In his time at Pittsburgh, Green was a three time All-American, a four time All-Big East, the Walter Camp Award, the Maxwell Award, the Lombardi Award, and many more. Green played in 48 games for Pittsburgh, recording 277 tackles, 53 sacks, and 24 forced fumbles. During his senior season, Hugh finished second in the Heisman Trophy race, becoming the highest voted defensive player in award history. In the 1981 NFL Draft, Green was selected seventh overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he would go on to make two Pro Bowls and be named to two All-Pro teams. Unfortunately, injuries began to hamper him starting in the 1984 season, and he retired as a Miami Dolphin after the 1991 season.
