About Hugh Douglas
Hugh Douglas is a retired NFL defensive end who spent nine seasons in the league with three different teams. At Central State University, Douglas was a defensive force, earning two AllAmerican honors and recording 42 sacks in just 32 games over his three seasons in college. During his senior season in 1995, Douglas was named the Defensive Player of the Year, and he entered the 1995 NFL Draft after graduating. Douglas was drafted with the 16th pick by the New York Jets, where he won the AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year as well as the PWFA Defensive Player of the Year. Two seasons later, Douglas was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles, going on to appear in three straight Pro Bowls from 2000 to 2002. In 2003, Douglas joined the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he played one season before returning to the Eagles in 2004, helping the team win the NFC championship and compete in the Super Bowl. Douglas retired after the 2004 season, remaining with the Eagles under an ambassador contract. He now works as a NFL analyst and has previously worked for ESPN.
