Holley Mangold Biography

Holley Mangold is an Olympic weightlifter who competes for the United States Olympic team. In high school, Mangold became the first female non-kicker to play in a high school football game when she was the team’s starting offensive lineman. Along with football, Mangold competed for her schools weightlifting team, and she attended Ursuline College on a track scholarship, but she dropped out in late 2010. In her only attempt at the Olympics so far, Mangold set personal records in the qualifying rounds, earning a spot on the Olympic team, but a torn tendon in her wrist limited her efforts and she placed tenth out of 14 competitors in her division. Mangold continues to pursue her dream of winning a medal at the Olympics, and will try again in the 2016 Olympics.
