About Garrett Nussmeier
Garrett Nussmeier is the starting quarterback for the LSU Tigers going into the 2025 college football season. The son of former NFL quarterback and coach Doug Nussmeier, he moved 12 times growing up due to his father’s coaching career. At Edward S. Marcus High School in Texas, he threw for 3,788 yards and 38 touchdowns as a junior, and 2,815 yards with 33 touchdowns as a senior. A four-star recruit, he chose LSU over offers from Texas, Texas A&M, and others. After redshirting as a freshman in 2021, he backed up Heisman winner Jayden Daniels in 2023. In 2024, as a starter, he threw for 4,052 yards and 29 touchdowns, leading LSU to a 9-4 record and Texas Bowl victory. He’s projected as a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
