About Fredi Gonzalez
Fredi Gonzalez is a coach for the Miami Marlinswho previously served as manager of the Atlanta Braves. Originally from Cuba, Gonzalez grew up in Miami, Florida, and was selected in the first round of the 1982 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees. However, Gonzalez never made it farther than AA ball, eventually hanging up his cleats in 1988. Following his retirement, Gonzalez turned his focus to coaching, serving as a graduate assistant at the University of Tennessee and eventually becoming manager of the Miami Miracle in minor league baseball. For the next few years, Gonzalez would be a manager for various minor league teams, eventually being named the manager of the Florida Marlins in 2006. For the next four years, Gonzalez would lead the Marlins to be one of the best teams in the MLB, and became the winningest manager in club history.
