Fireman Ed Biography

Ed Anzalone also known as Fireman Ed is a former enthusiastic superfan of the New York Jets and Hall of Fame member since 1975. He is one of the most well known NFL fans and he earned his position by appearing on many local radio shows. Fireman Ed was not always a Jets fan; until the age of 10 he was a Miami Dolphins fan. Prior to the 2012 season, Fireman Ed wore Bruce Harper’s jersey, but then switched to Mark Sanchez. Fireman Ed has been leading the J-E-T-S chant from section 134 of the stadium since 1986. In 1999, Fireman Ed was included in an exhibit at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 2009, he was given the game ball from the week 2 victory against the New England Patriots. On August 16, 2010, Fireman Ed was cheering with his fans when a Giants fan interrupted it. Fireman Ed shoved the fan and the fan was soon escorted from the section and later removed from the game. Fireman Ed had simple assault charges against him, which were later, dropped. In November 2012, he stepped down as the self-proclaimed NY Jets mascot, but returned in 2015.
